Nick Fury is on the wheels of steel! SHIELD has a giant swamp car and he’s looking for the group called THEM. He finds the base and shuts it down, but it’s clearly got some funding behind it. And Jasper Sitwell tells Fury that it’s probably AIM.
This is the first reference to AIM. While the story is fine, it’s bizarre to think that Sitwell would (a) know something that Fury didn’t know (because he knows everything) and (b) would have information not in SHIELD’s files.
