Ghost Rider #56 (1981): 1st Night Rider

Night Rider is brought into present day continuity by Hamilton Slade (a descendant of Lincoln Slade, who was the Phantom Rider and also the second Ghost Rider) when he finds an urn in a cave that unleashes Night Rider as a mystical force.

In the Golden Age, he was Ghost Rider.  Then, in a few issues of Ghost Rider, he’s Phantom Rider.  Now, he’s clearly called Night Rider.

Ghost Rider’s book has pretty much always been a Western: Johnny, riding his faithful motorcycle, from desert town to desert town, meting out justice.

They team up against Moondark.

After the threat is taken care of, Hamilton wakes up with no memory of what happened.
