X-MEN ORIGINS: CYCLOPS (2010)

The X-Men: Origins series of one-shots has been largely underwhelming and forgettable.  This issue may be the worst of the bunch.  It focuses on the early manifestation of Cyclops’ power, but instead of thoughtfully dealing with a character who suddenly can’t open his eyes without blowing sh!t up, it conveniently has the ability just popping up when there’s no chance of him killing anyone.

Like where he blows through a wall but then seems able to navigate an open field, climb a wall, make his way into town, and hide in an alley.  Are his eyes closed the entire way?  Doubtful.

Even worse, here he is shown with his eyes fully open…

But as soon as puts on the visor, he knows it holds back his powers.

Hmph.
