Magneto ripped Wolverine’s admantium out of him in X-Men #25. In this issue, we see a lot of psychic depictions of his pain as he’s in a coma.

When he wakes up, we have a new Wolverine—who no longer has admantium.
This is basically setting up a new normal for Wolverine as a less-powerful character. It’s also the first time we have confirmation that Wolverine had his claws before the Weapon X experiments.
