No, this isn’t Marvel Zombies. It’s very different.
I believe that Simon Garth was the first named Zombie in the Marvel Universe. In this series, he is reimagined with a new origin. So I’m pretty sure this is NOT 616 canon. I’m covering it, though, because I enjoyed it.
Anyway, he’s a bank manager who gets taken hostage by some bankrobbers who find their getaway foiled by a horde of zombies. From there, it’s a pretty typical zombie story–there’s military conspiracies, lots of flesh-eating, and Garth (who is NOT a zombie in this series) goes from zero to hero. Until the twist at the end.
A nice little romp. I’m a fan of Mike Raicht’s creator-owned “Stuff of Legend” comics, and I dig his writing here, too. Kyle Hotz’s “EC” style art is a perfect match for the material.
