Spider-Woman #42-43 (1982)

Spider-Woman, the comic, continues to get more interesting as Claremont’s work gets deeper into ongoing subplots and intrigue.  In her “secret identity,” Jessica Drew, private eye, is hired to find a man called “Judas Man,” who cannot age due to some genetic rejiggering from Red Skull.  This ability also means that Hydra wants a piece of him, so Viper and Silver Samurai are also looking for him.

Steve Leialoha‘s art keeps getting better, too.

To defeat Viper, Spider-Woman dresses up as her–which foreshadows the reason that the two look alike.

Chris Claremont will make Viper Spider-Woman’s mom (which will be undone by Brian Michael Bendis 30 years later).
