“He’s back…And we don’t mean Yondu” is the cover tagline. But who do they mean? Because issue #44 brings back both the original Starhawk and The Beyonder. Beyonder’s kid, which he manufactured and named “Protege,” is rebelling against him, and the Guardians, Beyonder, the Hawk-God that gives away starhawk powers, Mephisto and Mephista, some Celestials, and several other cosmic characters all get involved in a convoluted cosmic conflict.

It culminates in #50, with Protege being neutralized and the team having a new lineup.

Nothing wrong with these comics–they’re fun. They’re just not canon so I’m not covering them in detail.
Jeff Moore guest pencils #44.
