What makes a kid-oriented superhero team great? The writing has to be crisp and funny, and aimed slightly above their heads–so it isn’t nauseatingly saccharine for adults. The characters have to include a geeky outsider type, a rapscallion, and a very-youngish one to be the “baby” of the group, so that it appeals to the kid’s desire to be both cool, older, and still a child. And there has to be a plot and a story that matters–usually involving parental death or danger.
Power Pack had all these important elements, and more.
Created by Louise Simonson and June Brigman, Power Pack #1 hit the stands on May 1, 1984.
They need to make a movie or a series out of it.
