Issue #1 of this series was pretty much an action-packed introduction. In these issues, the plot thickens.
Doctor Doom summons Blade to Latveria where he tells Blade about his father’s past. In the 1920s, he was imprisoned in Latveria.
Via flashbacks, we see that, while imprisoned, Cross became a vampire voluntarily (because he is dying of cancer). Obviously, Chaykin is a choice artist for this. Historical work is something he’s particularly good at. Doom sends Blade back in time to stop Doom’s own mother from becoming a vampire. In return, Blade gets an elixir that will cure his vampirism (which he doesn’t take).
