SPIDER-MAN: THE MUTANT AGENDA #0-3 (1994)

This was a crossover between the Spider-Man syndicated newspaper strip and the 616 Spider-Man comics. At the time, in 1994, Marvel really needed to do this because Spider-Man only appeared in about ten comics per month and they really, really wanted to overexpose him so that their entire publishing line would collapse into bankruptcy. And their plan worked.

This comic is pretty bad, but it was later compiled into a bound volume where the daily strips could be read in context with each comic book issue.

I think(?) it’s canon, but I tagged it as “not cannon” just in case.

This story’s plot (which is not worth discussing) became the basis for a crossover between the 1990s Spider-Man and X-Men animated series–which were a lot of fun.
