IRON MAN #6 (1968)

Tony Stark is supposed to be a genius, but he can’t figure out that he doesn’t actually have to be in his new armor to test its resistance to impacts?  Hm.

Anyhow, this story is where we really start to see Whitney Frost getting romantically interested in Tony.  She’s the head of the Maggia and, as Marvelites, we know she will later become Madam Masque and do all kinds of nasty stuff to Iron Man.

Part of the fun of reading these early Marvel issues is seeing beginnings of so many plotlines that would last for decades or more.

As for the main story, it’s the return of that bald dude in suspenders called “Crusher” who looks an awful lot like Absorbing Man.  But isn’t.
