Pixie is hardly my favorite character but…You had me with the creative team: Kathryn Immonen and Sara Pichelli. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Pixie’s long-lost mother arrives on Utopia, looking for her daughter. Meanwhile, Pixie and some of her mutant friends are living inside an illusion where they are BMOCs in High School.
They would be happy there, only the demon Saturnine holds them in this fake reality.
Blindfold seems to have an awareness that they are under a spell. At one point, Emma Frost realizes this.
I love the way Immonen writes Emma.
The team goes to rescue her.
While they’re having their adventure, Mrs. Gwynn reveals that Pixie’s father is Mastermind, which makes his two daughters Pixie’s half-sisters.
Mom is there to save her daughter from her demon captors. She recruits Regan and Martinique Wyngarde to help.
Based on their outfits, they’re getting trained by Emma on more than just how to use their powers.
With Mom’s magic, Pixie’s connection to Limbo and her soul-dagger, and the Martinique girls’ psychic powers, they are successful–and Saturnine is slain.
Finally knowing who her parents are, Pixie tries to quit the X-Men and go off with her mom–but she disappears as soon as Pixie turns her back.
I’m not sure she’s ever seen again. Bit of a depressing ending, but this series far exceeded expectations.
