This is a rather conservative take on the usually ultra-sexualized White Queen. That’s okay. Epting, who is actually an old classmate of mine, belongs to the “Realists” class of comic artists including Neal Adams, George Perez, Mike Grell, John Byrne, and John Buscema, the latter of whom here was obviously a major influence on Epting’s career. Epting’s ability to flawlessly nail down the essence of the White Queen’s character through her facial expression here is almost chilling. I would enjoy seeing Epting bring his touch to Storm and Psylocke!
