Black Panther #10-13 (2006): Two the Hard Way

This story starts with a flashback to Luke Cage’s origin–in prison–but through thought panels, we see that he idolized Black Panther…

This scene is important for several reasons, but mostly because we’re about to get a kind of “black superhero team-up” story and it gives more depth to the basis for the heroes working together–it’s not just random like the stories in Marvel Team-Up.

The bond between the two men is then explored as Panther shows up at a club where Cage is working as a bouncer, and then are attacked by ninjas. Falcon and Shang Chi are added to the team up, and the action scenes are great.

Later, Cage and T’Challa’s team up takes them down South to fight vampires with Blade and Brother Voodoo.

Blade is looking very much like Wesley Snipes these days.

Really, this arc about ninjas and vampires fighting a bunch of Marvel heroes that we really don’t see that much of–so using them here is great.
