Very nifty concept: A homeless dude finds The Molecule Man’s magic wand and becomes the new MM. But he’s taken down by Biotron, which belies the major power level Molecule Man should have. Although it can be explained by him working through a new human host.
I’ve just tagged this as Molecule Man, because as I read this issue, it is in fact Owen Reese occupying the control rod–and the human who is corrupted by it is never seen again.
The issue ends with him dropping the rod in a puddle after being electrocuted. The rod will lie there until Silver Surfer finds it in 1982’s Avengers #215.
