Elena leaves Maverick to go hunt down Sabretooth, who killed her mother. Maverick goes after her, and in #7 has a full-issue fight against Sabretooth that ends in a stalemate, but with Elena wounded and dying.
We also learn that Maverick’s Legacy Virus is in remission, but it’s not clear how that happened. During the fight with Sabretooth, his powers stop working properly.
