Gamma radiation causes local plantlife to go wild, and it happens right near The Defenders’ mountain hideaway. The plants start infecting the local humans, Beast uses science, Gargoyle and Moondragon kiss inside the big plant monster because somehow tht disrupts it. And also kissing Moondragon makes Gargoyle’s hand grow back. (And I bet that’s not all that grew!)
So I think maybe they’re a thing now?
