GODZILLA #17-22 (1978-1979)

Great cover.

SHIELD is finally getting smart. First, they’ve allied with the Red Ronin team and Stark International to upgrade the giant robot.

Second, they allied with Hank and Jan to get Pym particles.

As he shrinks, he does some judo and then gets even smaller until he’s caught and caged.

Frankly, if they do this Godzilla, they should do it for Hulk. (Oh, they kinda did–which is how he met Jarella.)

Anyhow, this story is tons of fun. The shrunken monster gets free, runs around in a sewer fighting rats, and then slowly starts to grow again…

…So he joins the Trenchcoat Disguise club. Then he grows a little more and takes on the Fantastic Four in a museum that for some reason has a tank of live sharks. Godzilla falls in and Thing saves him by swinging the shark like a baseball bat and hitting ‘Zilla out of the tank.

Nicely done, Thing. That gets two tags for this post: Sports and hitting animals.

The FF uses Dr. Doom’s time platform technology to send Godzilla back in time to the dinosaur era, just in time for Godzilla to grow back to giant size.

Once in the past, he fights Devil Dinosaur (this just keeps getting better!) and then some wizards from the era cast him back into the present day.

Al these issues flow together with no break, just like “regular” Marvel comics.

Most excellent!
