It’s a Latverian holiday about making amends. They share food and culture.

Sadly, Doom’s atonement lasts for exactly as long as this issue. Actually, not sad. Doom’s one of the best villains ever. At the end of the story, Reed reveals that he has had Doom’s mother’s locket since their college days.

He returns it to him.

And still Doom swears he will kill Richards.

When he wrote this, I believe Dwayne McDuffie was in his fourth decade of writing comics. Unlike many others, he didn’t age poorly–he got better as he got older.
His FF comics were great. He should have had a years long tenure.
