DEFENDERS #78-83 (1979-1980)

Lord, what did I ever do to be punished by seeing one of my favorite comics sink lower and lower.  Ed Hannigan’s stories are terrible.  But at least he tries to be a feminist by name-dropping Gloria Steinem.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get worse, they actually crucify Hulk.

These issues are a total mess in a fantasy dimension that nobody cares about and, hopefully, nobody remembers.  And he’s not even done yet.

This is a nice scene, though, where Clea takes Aragorn for a spin.

Don Perlin takes over the art chores in issue #83, starting a fairly long run for him.
