For several years now, Kitty has been kept in a phase state, hurtling through space–the consequence of a heroic sacrifice back in Astonishing X-Men. About a half-dozen ongoing stories continue to develop, including the Atlanteans now working closely with the X-Men, and living under their island.
Magneto (who has been trying to ingratiate himself with Scott Summers) manages to redirect Kitty back to Earth. She’s inside a giant bullet, so the mutants have to do all kinds of machinations to prevent Earthlings from detecting the weapon. They succeed, and Kitty is back.
The effort nearly kills Magneto, and there’s a catch. When she goes to embrace her true love, Colossus…
Nice twist. Fraction’s run continues to be one of the better post-Claremont Uncanny runs.
