SILVER SURFER #2 (1968)

We get to see a bit of Zenna La, as this series gradually weaves a backstory for Surfer into his ongoing meditations about how hard it is to be a saint in the city.

The main story is just Norrin stopping an alien invasion and, of course, feeling misunderstood.

Lots of time for big speeches because these early Surfer books are all oversized, so Stan Lee is in full over-the-top Stan mode. And it’s pretty delicious.

And there’s another Tales of the Watcher backup that’s not worth reading. Gene Colan is the artists for it.
