Just batching two of these done-in-ones together this time, because #13 is kind of important. Issue #12 fills in blank spots in Betty Brant’s history, connecting her brother to a crime boss. It also brings back Scarlet Beetle, which is fun.

Issue #13 has Black Knight. If you’re familiar with this site, you know I can’t stand Black Knight. At least it’s the classic, original, villain version. Knight kills Bluebird (wow!), Spider-Man goes on the warpath, and Human Torch steps in to call him down.

I now hate Johnny Storm because he didn’t let someone kill one of the Black Knights.
This is, chronologically, the first time we see Spider-Man completely lose his temper and become dangerously close to killing someone.
