Davos tells Danny Rand about an “Eighth City” that initially was a place to put demons who attacked K’un Lun but now serves as a prison for K’un Lun citizens who dared to oppose Yu-Ti’s rule. Danny and the Immortal Weapons go to set them free.
This allows for a whole mess of fights against the rightfully imprisoned demons and then the “government” of prisoners who, of course, are ruled by an evil dude (revealed at the end to be a former Iron Fist) who likes to make people fight in a big arena. Because gladiator fights are always good in kung fu stories.
Along the way, Danny meets Quan Yaozu, who claims to have been the first Iron Fist. He says he chose to be held in the Eighth City to ensure the demons imprisoned there did not escape.
In the end, Danny and his team succeed in freeing the prisoners.
This is a nice self-contained story, but it feels detached from the greater narrative that was the concept of this series. Still good, just not as good as the issues before it. Perhaps this series is starting to wear out its welcome.
