Iron Man #148 (1981)

A regional Stark Enterprise branch is taken over by local militia, and Iron Man saves the day.  A simple story, but a nice sequence, above, showing that Tony Stark cares about his people.  One of the long list of nice things about this run on Iron Man—one of the best of all time—is how it focuses on him as an effective corporate leader.  I like Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal, but it can feel a little “one-note” in the sense that he’s just an egomaniac with a power complex, and it has affected his portrayal in the comics as well.  In these issues, he is more interesting than that.

Also, some humor…
