CAPTAIN AMERICA #108 (1968)

This issue, when Cap is called upon by SHIELD, his first reaction is sass.

Turns out, he just wants time to get laid.

But then he learns Sharon is being held by Trapster.

And so he goes to the rescue to fight the man formerly known as Paste-Pot Pete…

And his invincible wash-and-dry machine!

As it turns out, though, Trapster’s paste isn’t all that sticky because Sharon was diluting it.

The “Sharon” being held captive was a life model decoy. The real Sharon was running around messing with Trapster.

It’s cool that she was in control and Cap thought he was rescuing her but she never needed rescuing in the first place.

They don’t end comics like this anymore.  Stan Lee had a flair for the cinematic.
