HULK! #16-19 (1979-1980)

‘Issue #16 has a story where Hulk goes to the Everglades and meets Man-Thing. No. Wait. He goes to the Everglades and doesn’t meet Man-Thing.

That’s ponderous.

But across these issues, he does punch alligators and a rhino. It’s actually nearly all he punches. Most of these stories are character focused. They’re good–not great, but good. Certainly a departure from the normal Hulk stories. Gene Colan draws one of them, which is cool.

THE HULK by Gene Colan

The Moon Knight stories continue to be the draw here, as we see the masterful blending of horror and superheroics.

In these issues, he hunts a masked creep who is killing women on the streets with an axe.

Also, terrific pin-ups and more Kurt Busiek letters in every issue.
