X-Men Unlimited #34 (2002)

As you can tell from the cover, the first story in this issue is an attempt to cross over into the manga market.  It’s cute, it’s silly, it works because it stars Jubilee.

After that, we get two fairly standard stories. One is about Sunfire and we don’t hear much about him, so that’s nice.

I will add that Marvel in this period—early ‘00s—is doing some really positive things by hiring indie creators, bringing in new blood, experimenting with different kinds of stories (like the Jubilee one in this issue), but at the same time, they’re relying pretty heavily on boobs.

And I do mean heavy boobs.

Sigh.
