MAN-THING #1 (1979)

Jim Mooney is fine for superhero comics, but his take on Man-Thing is a little too … Manlike. Not enough Thing.

In this first issue, a scientist tries to revive the Ted Sallis consciousness that apparently lives within Man-Thing. A few regulars from the Steve Gerber series make appearances, but overall this feels like a pale imitation of something that was once really good. Man-Thing even kills an alligator for the umpteenth time.

Plus the Army is aware of Man-Thing and is okay with blowing him up.
