CAPTAIN MARVEL #24-25 (1973)

Let’s ignore #24 and go right to #25. Nothing happens in #24 and it’s painful to read.

Not that 25 is any better. Rick Jones’ dialog is so stilted towards being a hipster that it completely distracts from the story.  This panel shows what I mean.

The story itself isn’t terrible.  Skrulls disguise themselves as Mar-Vell’s friends and family members in order to drive him crazy. It’s a decent idea. I’m shocked it hasn’t been used more.

Unfortunately, it’s not done very well. But still, #25 is better than most Captain Marvel books. Not that that’s saying very much. And at least it has art by Jim Starlin.
