Daredevil/Black Widow: Abattoir (1993)

Jim Starlin wrote Marvel’s first graphic novel, and now he writes its last. From here, it’s all trade paperbacks, no OGNs, for a long, long time.

The story is about espionage: Black Widow is tracking a psychic assassin, she gets captured and tortured, DD rescues her.

I’ve said it before: I don’t like Widow as a hostage. But as far as these things go, it’s a good way to fill in some historical gaps for the character’s early years, when she was a young girl in a cruel and sadistic training camp.

The villainous assassin is killed in the end.

Joe Chiodo’s art is really cool.
