FANTASTIC FOUR #78-79: Thing No More (1968)

I can summarize this entire arc in just nine panels!

Guys.  If you create a guy made out of rocks who is in love with a woman who makes sculptures of rocks, there’s so much you can do with that.  Seriously.  All kinds of deep character moments.

Why do you keep drawing from the “Reed cure me/don’t cure me” well?

These two issues tell the same story we’ve read before, but they tell it much, much better.  But it’s almost too late: It’s a tired tale, already.

Too bad, because it really is handled well here.

Grade: B-.  It’s the best telling of this story, but we’ve heard it so many times before.
