There’s a lot of fun stuff in this issue, which takes the time to check in on the various ongoing storylines. Like Cypher and Warlock, who have returned to the team.
Danger is, apparently, horny.
But most this issue is about Magik.
Through a conversation with Emma Frost, we the readers get a review of her recent, complicated past–along with some new information including that she saw a possible future where Legion killed all her friends (thus explaining why she recently came back to help the team defeat Legion by murdering several of his personalities). She also says she’s back to help defend against the return of the Elder Gods, who she believes will kill the X-Men.
This issue also, in the opening sequence, introduced Project Purgatory–a U.S. Military strike team whose mission is to hunt down and capture Magik, take over Limbo, and weaponize other paranormal kindsa stuff.
We don’t learn much about them here.
Lots of set up in this issue for story arcs that won’t get going until after this book does the requisite tie-ins to the Second Coming event.
