I’m going to speed up my review of Byrne’s Superman/Action runs of the ’80s, as around this time he’s established the character and it’s just a series of adventures. They’re great, they’re fun, I highly recommend reading them, but I don’t have much to say about them…
Action Comics #587:
In an issue guest-starring The Demon, John Byrne finds the time to pay tribute to Monty Python.
Superman #5: Superman makes it with Wonder Woman…

What a fantastic layout. And, I’m sure, a fantastic lay as well. Later, in Action Comics #598, Superman’s insecurities come through…
But that’s later. Chronologically, we’re up to Action #588-589:
In which we get to see John’s take on the Green Lanterns and Hawkfolks.
Superman #6 has a classic Superman panel…

…the “covering for Clark” scene. While #7 has the “changing into costume” scene…
Action #592 gives us Barda and Sleeze…

And here’s a fun place to end this post, the first appearance of Krypto.
