Blue Marvel quits the team after figuring out that Norman Osborn is a fascist lunatic and the other Dark Avengers are mostly psycho. He’s pursued by Sentry but escapes. Throughout the story, Noh Varr keeps questioning his purpose on Earth until, towards the end, the Kree Supreme Intelligence contacts him and tells him that his role is to be Earth’s new protector. He gets a new set of Nega-Bands, new duds, and a new name: Protector.
He also meets a young girl named Annie who crushes on him.
She helps him escape Osborn.
His adventure is observed by Steve Rogers and Bucky Cap, who discuss whether to recruit him for the battle against Osborn.
