CABLE #64 (1999)

Despite the February cover date, this is the Christmas issue of Cable. Irene Merryweather, the reporter who has been tracking Cable during Joe Casey’s run on this series, finally gets her interview.

The issue is told via a first person news account by Merryweather, with “live” scenes spliced between pages of the article. Cable tells Irene his origin, but also helps a Santa who is being shaken down by gangsters.

It’s a good “reset” issue. We get an extended narrative of Cable’s (very confusing) history, along with some character work and the spirit of the Holiday.

Meanwhile, Apocalypse is rising again–and creates an earthquake in Mexico, while Ozymandias tries to warn Blaquesmith of the villain’s return.
