Captain America #284 (1983)

Mike Zeck takes a break and DeMatteis and Buscema offer a story where Cap and his new partner, Nomad (the 1950s Bucky), intercede in a domestic violence situation.

These days, you almost never read a Marvel book that even has civillians in it, let alone a story dedicated to saving a “normal kid” and his mom from an abusive spouse.  I always liked these stories—they made the heroes feel more grounded in reality.

Also, Dum Dum becomes Deputy Director of SHIELD.

And Jack goes to his first party of the decade.

And Cap is into BDSM.

He also tells her he loves her.
