It’s another issue of Todd McFarlane getting to play with the biggest toys in the Spider-Man library. This time: Morbius.
He’s leading a cult of subhumans living in the New York sewers. They hate “surface dwellers” but are neither Moloids nor Morlocks.
It would have been a cool comic to have all the underground dwellers go to war.
Instead, this is a generic Spider-Man story with, once again, really great art. These books were just big, fun, fights. Nothing great, but certainly easy on the eyes. Lots of big speeches in every issue–that’s what McFarlane seems to think passes as character work.
At one point, Spider-Man thwips Mary Jane, which I’m pretty sure is a sexual euphemism.
