This is an actual tie-in to The Shogun Warriors comic, which was cancelled. At the end of that series, all the giant Shogun robots were destroyed by a bigger, badder giant robot called Samurai Destroyer.
In this issue, the Shogun pilots ask Reed Richards for help getting revenge. He does, and they do.
