First appearance of The Executioner!
No, not really. He’s a one-off villain.
Dr. Don Blake goes to the country of San Diablo as part of a group of doctors providing medical help during an anticommunist revolution, but The Executioner–a commie–doesn’t want American doctors to help. Executioner goes forth to kill the doctors, and Thor saves everyone.
Look how skinny Thor is.
Executioner doesn’t like that Thor is breaking all his stuff.
Executioner is, of course, a dick. So eventually his guys turn on him.
So, not the first appearance of The Executioner that everyone knows. But this issue does have the first appearance of Blake’s nurse, Jane Foster, who immediately has a crush on Thor.
Generally, I’m only tagging heroes, villains, and folks with powers. So I’m not tagging Jane…Until she gets powers.
Most of these early Thor stories are pretty bad, but this one is one of the better ones. I’ll be grouping a lot of these together in the future, because they’re short (one story in an anthology comic) and, again, mediocre or bad.
