
I admit that at this middle point in the series, The Boys drags a bit. It’s still much better than most comics, but it’s getting a little gimmicky. There is a very nice issue recognizing the 9/11 attacks…

But after that, like I said, there’s lots of gimmicks. Like superhero boxing.

Wrestling (and doesn’t this remind you of Robert Crumb?):

Bicycle baguette jousting…

A spoof of the Legion of Substitute Heroes, making this a spoof of a spoof…

And all the while, Butcher showing his usual humility.

They’re fun, but they’re not giving the kind of emotional resonance of the earlier issues.
