
Over the next two years, Marvel will produce eleven comics under the “X-Men Origins” banner. The quality of these one-shots will vary dramatically from issue to issue, and they’re clearly an attempt to prime readers for the Wolverine: Origins movie. Thankfully, none of the comics are as bad as that movie was.
We start with Colossus, which is a bit of an odd choice. I know people like him, but it’s mostly because of his relationships with Kitty and his little sister.

Overall, it’s a solid read. We learn that Piotr’s brother Mikhail was part of the Soviet space program. When he seemingly died on a mission, the trauma is what triggered Piotr’s mutant abilities.
It ends with Professor X recruiting him into the X-Men.
