Wolverine First Class #1-2 (2008)

Last year, Marvel launched “X-Men First Class.”. I think many agree it was a non-continuity book–although it’s not unanimous.  I didn’t cover much of it here, despite the high quality, and I kinda regret that.  I may go back.

Wolverine First Class was launched because XMFC was a big success and because anything with Wolverine makes money.  It’s not quite as good as the Jeff Parker issues of X-Men First Class, but it’s a lot of fun and seems to fit much more neatly in continuity.

These early issues focus on Kitty Pryde’s first days at the Xavier School.  Specifically, about her mentor-mentee relationship with Wolverine.  They have some adventures together, but the best part is Kitty hacking into Professor X’s notes about Logan to figure out when his birthday is…

Obviously, Logan is not thrilled.  Then Sabretooth crashes the party.  Apparently, he shows up at Wolverine’s birthday every year just to fight him.
