Tribute cover!
Titled, “Aftermath,” this issue deals with the fallout from all the recent events and tumult in this book. Rahne quits in an effort to avoid a vision of the future, shown to her by Tryp, that had her killing Layla and Madrox (right after the two got married!). Her goodbyes with several members are strung throughout this issue, as a place to return to while we get check-ins with the rest of the team. Let’s do a quick rundown:
- Siryn slept with a dupe and now is pregnant.
- We meet a new group of mutants called “Rem” mutants (because they have only remnants of their abilities after M Day). They experience double-persecution. Humans don’t like them because they’re mutants and mutants don’t like them because they’re more human than mutant.
- Rictor is walking the streets of of M-Town when he finds a streetwalker dressed as Layla Miller. Apparently, that’s now a fetish. Rictor ends up taking a beating from her pimp.
- Guido and Madrox beat up some Purifiers.
- Somebody is buying up buildings in M Town.
Another great issue of one of the best titles of its time.
