The Twelve was a series that brought Golden Age characters into the modern era and appeared to formally bring them into the 616 Universe, but honestly it’s not clear to me that this series is canon. These characters are never seen again. No 616 events are referenced. No 616 characters appear. I’m gonna go ahead and tag this as probably not being a 616 story, and not create character tags for any of these folks.
That said, it’s a fine read (pretty rare for a JMS script to be bad) and Chris Weston’s art is great, too.
I also liked that the old comics from the ’40s that introduced these characters are reprinted as issues “#0” and “#1/2” to this series.
Note: The first 8 issues came out in 2008 and 2009, but then JMS got higher paying jobs and it wasn’t finished until 2012. I do admire Marvel for coming back to it and completing it. Bonus points for ensuing the same artist, Chris Weston, got to finish it with him.
