Omega the Unknown has always been a Marvel character who felt like he was an indie character. In this miniseries, he kinda makes that transtion. Written by Jonathan Lethem (author of the acclaimed novel, “Motherless Brooklyn”) and illustrated by the fiercely independent (and offbeat) Farel Dalrymple, this revival of the character won both great reviews by Steve Gerber and an Eisner for the year’s best miniseries.
It’s genius. Omega the Unknown is still a teenager in this book, trying to balance superheroics and school, and ends up in the middle of an alien war. And it all gets pretty meta when the creators of the comic are revealed as part of the problem.

Having said all of that, it’s not an Earth 616 story. You should still read it, though.
