Wolverine answers Black Panther’s call for help to rescue the infant daughter of a political leader who was assassinated in Africa.

The art in this issue is fantastic. The story is a little problematic. Black Panther, as the leader of Wakanda, can’t officially get involved in a neighboring country’s conflicts—but he wants the New Avengers to rescue the child so that she can grow up and become an activist in her country of birth. The Avengers have historically gotten in trouble every time they take political jobs, and the point of the “New” Avengers was certainly not to become, once again, instruments of SHIELD’s international espionage missions. Taking such a mission for Wakanda isn’t much better than that. At the same time, it makes sense they’d trust T’Challa given his past with them.
Nice little done-in-one before the big Civil War arc.
