In this story, Sabretooth and Logan each independently hunt a character known only as “The Native.” Through flashbacks, we see that she is similar to both Creed and Wolverine in her power set, and she escaped from the Weapon X facility at the same time that Logan did—many years ago. The two had a brief relationship before splitting up, and when this story begins she has resurfaced.
Sabretooth hunts her and is injured in the process. He tells Wolverine (whose memory of the Native has apparently been wiped), who then takes up the hunt. In the process, Logan learns of his past life with Native and tracks her.
Just as they start to rekindle their romance Creed reappears.
Turns out, Wolverine was bait.
They battle the Weapon X soldiers but Native is captured.
We learn, when Weapon X starts experimenting on her again, that Logan got her pregnant. Wolverine attempts to free her but in the end, Creed kills her—and the baby inside of her.
This is an excellent story with plenty of action, plot twists, and character-based hooks. It’s also pretty hardcore, which is appropriate given that it is the first story in this series that has the Marvel Knights banner.
