Not much to say on either Mike Mignola or his signature creation ‘Hellboy’, because I don’t really have the time, funds, or interest to follow the ‘second-tier’ publishers, but I will say that the most interesting aspect of the “Hellboy” series to me ( I saw the movies ) was the fact that Hellboy’s creation was the direct result of the Third Reich’s ( principally the deranged Adolf Hitler ) obsession with the Supernatural, as a hopeful and possible means of turning the tide of victory back towards the Axis. History tells us that if the Nazis had spent the same amount of time trying to develop the atomic bomb as they spent on the development of their supernatural projects, ( such as werewolf soldiers- no shit!!! ) we would all be goosestepping and sieg-heiling under the banner of the Third Reich today! ( ALSO no shit!!! ) So, here’s to Hellboy for inadvertantly helping the Allies to win the war, and to his creator, Mr. Mike Mignola, who just celebrated his sixty-forth birthday yesterday, as of this writing! Word!!
