In 1990, Frank Miller and Lynn Varley (colorist and wife of Miller) produced an Epic Imprint Graphic Novel about Elektra–perhaps Miller’s most beloved creation. A house ad appears above.
Artistically, the book epitomizes Miller’s movement from violent superheroics to noir, and from the realistic and lithe figures he used during his Daredevil run and the chunky, blocky characters of Dark Knight. It also has him saying goodbye to Elektra–a character he created and killed over the course of about a year of comics.
Cemeteries and resurrections…
And, of course, death. Lots of death. Elektra kills Bullseye…
And then she herself dies in the end.
Another win for Frank Miller.
